The New Heliport

Home of Penzance Helicopters

From March 2020 Penzance Helicopters will operate from a brand new, purpose-built heliport on the outskirts of the town – the gateway to the Isles of Scilly.

For nearly five decades until 2012, Penzance was home to the helicopter service to the Isles of Scilly. The new Penzance Heliport will re-instate Penzance’s rightful place as the helicopter gateway to the islands.

The new heliport will sit just a stone’s throw from the previous site, right beside the A30 and just a mile from Penzance railway station. With a large on-site car park and an electric shuttle bus connecting the heliport and railway station, Penzance Heliport will make it quick and easy to make the connection to the rest of the country.

The near sea level location of Penzance means excellent resilience to fog and low cloud

Gateway to Scilly

Your holiday begins when you enter the welcoming, bright and airy terminal – the gateway to Scilly

Easy by road

The new heliport will be adjacent to the A30, with secure on-site parking for around 270 cars

Easy by rail

Penzance rail station, with trains to the whole UK, is just one mile away by electric shuttle bus

From the moment you arrive at Penzance Heliport, you’ll know your holiday has begun. Passing palms and Cornish hedges, you’ll approach the terminal building, finished with sustainable local timber with Cornish granite detailing. Inside, a bright and airy space awaits, with large, south facing windows and expansive views of the helipad.

The near sea level location of the heliport site will improve weather resilience of air travel to the Isles of Scilly, with the area significantly less impacted by low cloud and fog than other, higher airfields.

Construction work on the new heliport will take place from late 2018 through 2019, with Penzance Helicopters launching in spring 2020.
